TECTONIC BIOGRAPHY

The Story of its 550 Million Year Journey

Phase I · Metamorphic Cradle

Precambrian Crystallization

Deep inside the metamorphic belts of Ceylon, at temperatures exceeding 750°C and crustal pressures up to 8 kilobars, aluminum and oxygen atoms locked in a perfect geometric grid. It is here that corundum was born.

Phase II · Tectonic Signatures

Inclusion Mapping

As the sapphire crystal grew slowly over millennia, trace minerals like rutile crystallized inside. These delicate titanium dioxide needles arranged themselves in intersecting angles parallel to the crystal face. This created the stunning Mineral Crystal layout.

Phase III · Earthly Rise

Alluvial Deposition

Millions of years of tectonic upheaval, glaciation, and monsoon weathering slowly washed these gemstones from the mountains into the alluvial gravels of Ratnapura, Sri Lanka. Here, they were preserved in gravel beds (called *illam*) until extracted by local artisanal miners.
